This event has changed it’s course quite a few times.
Initially, we wanted a small, outdoor dinner party to celebrate our love, with only immediate family and close friends.
But 25 people quickly became 50 people which exponentially grew to 150 must-invites.
After touring a few venues, we decided to have the event at the park in Willow Springs in October. We’d rent a tent and tables and chairs, and get a band and caterer and it’d be great.
So I worked hard on a “Save the Date” to send out while we worked on finalizing our event.

We met with the tent lady and instantly became overwhelmed.
We needed to know the size of the tent, the size of the tables, the number of tables, the size of the dance floor, the size of the band, the linen color, the style of plates, the type of chair, color of chair, number of chairs, etc.
This was before we even met with a caterer, band, florist, and anything else that we’d need.
The whole point of the Gniddew was to be low key and different, and this was quickly becoming a high-stress, high-key event that was going to be something we didn’t even want.
So we nixed the park idea.
Next, we decided that we’d do a destination wedding. This would naturally reduce the number of attendees and enable us to have a smaller more intimate event in Arizona.
But once again, after meeting with a planner in Sedona, we realized the difficulty in pulling something like this off. All of the popular outdoor spots were crowded on weekends so a during-the-week “ceremony” was a must. And all of the venues out there were absurdly expensive, even for a group of 40 or 50.
Naturally, I worked really hard on updating the Save the Date card before we came to this realization.

Once these plans changed, there was no way I was going to spend more time working on the Save the Date.
Each of these took hours to draw and arrange. Simple invitations only.
The next and final phase was to have a simple party at a local brewery/restaurant with a cool atmosphere, Bold Monk.
Logistically, the food, drink, tables, chairs would all be covered, and we can make the event into whatever we want.
The deposit has been put down for Bold Monk on the 25th, so there’s no going back now. We will see you on the 25th!
